SPECIEZnm provides vital information for NEPA practitioners, natural resource specialists, and environmental engineers working on New Mexico projects. This web-based data service provides predominantly free information about endangered, threatened, and other special-status species in New Mexico. Created by environmental professionals (see About Us), this site continually updates our News Page; our Library offers glossaries and legal documents; the New Mexico Species page includes comprehensive data sets; and our New Mexico County Tables provide up-to-date listing status and species' presence for all 33 New Mexico counties (at minimal cost).

WHY YOU NEED NEW MEXICO COUNTY TABLES FROM SPECIEZnm...

There are multiple agencies, with overlapping jurisdictions, that track and list special-status plant and wildlife species (threatened, endangered, candidate, proposed, and sensitive or species of concern). Now, New Mexico's environmental professionals can obtain this information from a site dedicated to New Mexico: SPECIEZnm.org.

The mission of SPECIEZnm is to provide New Mexico environmental professionals with the timely, best-available species information required for appropriate environmental compliance, thereby contributing to conservation of our wildlife resources. SPECIEZnm is a service-driven organization that obtains, combines, and verifies the accuracy and completeness of all related species data needed to evaluate project impacts in each New Mexico County. In addition, we track revisions made by listing agencies, notify you of legal changes, and provide updated tables.

• Cost-effective Environmental Planning

When you plan proposals and budgets, download SPECIEZnm tables for project-affected counties. This alerts you to the threatened and endangered (T&E) species that may require formal consultation under the Endangered Species Act, enabling a more realistic budget for required field surveys, mitigation measures, or environmental monitoring — prior to submitting client proposals.
• Timely Environmental Documentation

SPECIEZnm County Tables provide up-to-date information for the T&E Species sections of your environmental compliance documents. Because SPECIEZnm's service includes immediate notification of revisions, you can be assured that the county species information presented in your documents is the best available data. This is extremely important, particularly because many projects span several years and species information may require several updates by the time you finally submit your BA. Our service can streamline your consultation process and help you meet your client's desired project schedule (and budget).
• NEPA Compliance

What is one of the primary purposes of the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA)? “NEPA procedures must insure that environmental information is available to public officials and citizens before decisions are made and before actions are taken.”                40CFR1500.1(b)

Environmental documents therefore require a terminology and visual presentation that ensures public understanding of your project. New Mexico County Tables are designed to be reader-friendly* and are formatted so they can be copy/pasted directly into your documents. Please view the *SAMPLE [Catron County 2006].pdf file and note that it also shows how we visually alert you about agency-generated table revisions.

SPECIEZnm County Table Revisions Service

You may purchase these tables individually as a Guest — or receive unlimited access as a Partner (see Purchasing Information). Keep your biologists in the field and let SPECIEZnm keep your project's species information up to date!
